Our Values

Finn & Stone, Inc. has been providing insurance solutions since 1961, over fifty years! We were founded on the principals of superior customer service and quality insurance programs. Over the years, we have added one more element to make this an especially potent mix: simplicity. We strive to make your insurance buying experience as simple as possible. We do all this with good cheer, patient and complete explanations when requested (and none, if you don’t want them!), and a recognition that the complexities of insurance are not for everyone.

As an independent insurance agency, we work with a selective list of insurance companies —companies that have proven their performance over the years. We have an excellent understanding of each of these provider’s strengths and weaknesses, and we will guide you to achieve the very best combination of coverage and value. You need to plan for all your potential risks, and we approach your unique situation by learning about your specific needs. We then assess the options and offer you a variety of insurance products to choose from.

53 Years and Counting!

2011 marked our 50th anniversary. Here’s the path we took in becoming Southern Vermont’s largest independent insurance agency:

1961 – The agency was established by Howard Finn and Paul Stone when they merged their two agencies – Finn & Corliss and The Chester Insurance Agency. The new firm was named Finn & Stone, Inc. with offices in Springfield and Chester Vermont. Later, the Chester office was merged into the Springfield office.

1974 – Paul H. Schwindt joined the firm after relocating to Vermont from New York City. Paul was instrumental in opening our third office in Bondville VT. In 1978 Paul became a Managing Partner.

1982 – Paul established the Manchester Center, VT office which, at the time, became our fourth location.

1984 – Charles M. Ams, III joined the firm in the Manchester Center office after relocating to Vermont from Fairfield County, CT where he worked for a local insurance agency. In 1986, he became a Managing Partner.

2000 – Angela M. Arbolino, RHU, REBC joined the firm in the Manchester Center office and developed the life insurance and employee benefits department. Angela became a Managing Partner in 2005.

Today, the agency is owned and managed by Charles M. Ams and Jonathan Ams with offices in two locations: Manchester Center, Springfield. While our primary emphasis is southern Vermont, the agency is licensed in 32 states allowing us to accommodate our clients’ needs through the country.
